Ft Benning Columbus Georgia
Ft. Benning is the Home of the Infantry built in 1918 in honor of Major General Henry L. Benning. Ft. Benning is situated just five miles from Phenix City and four miles from downtown Columbus, Georgia. As the largest military base in the Southeast and 2nd largest in the nation, Ft. Benning provides basic and specialized U.S. Army training and houses a self-sustaining military community. In 2005, Ft. Benning began implementing an extensive expansion project with the goal of merging Fort Knox's U.S Army Armor Center and School at Ft. Benning's new Maneuver Center of Excellence.

Ft. Benning is home to an estimated 130,000 assigned soldiers and retirees who live, work and train at this military post. Ft. Benning's facilities spread over 182,000 acres and include 63 action and non-firing ranges. Ft. Ft. Benning Graduations.
Newly inducted infantry men graduate after completing a rigorous 9-week basic training course or the 14-week One Station Unit Training. Military graduations are held on the parade field located at the National Infantry Museum at 1775 Legacy Way, in Columbus, Georgia. Ft. Benning families and friends are invited to Family Day held the day before graduation.

Opened in June 2009, the National Infantry Museum tells the story of the brave soldiers of the U.S. Army. This 19,000 square foot museum features 30,000 artifacts spread among eight major galleries such as The Last 100 Yards, the Family Support Gallery, the Fort Benning Gallery.
